Re: The 2010 Community Forum Shout-Out Awards!!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately it looks like we're going to be delaying the start of the voting process for the Shout-Out Awards as there seems to be a bug with the voting tool that is currently being worked through.  My sincere apologies for this, but due to the upgrade on the futureshop.ca that took place last night, we aren't able update anything on the site until Monday.

The voting will begin once I've confirmed here that the tool is up and working, no votes submitted before that time will count so please check this thread before you vote!  Depending on when we are able to start, I will extend the voting period to accomodate.

Again, apologies for the delay everyone!  Have a great weekend :smileyhappy:

Re: The 2010 Community Forum Shout-Out Awards!!

Thank you for the updates Laura.  I'm assuming that once the tool is properly functioning, a link to it will show on the main pages?

I think I can probably speak for everyone when I say that it's not really a big deal if there's some delay, as long as it's not canceled.

Until next time,

Re: The 2010 Community Forum Shout-Out Awards!!

Well it's nice to know that it's not just my browser at work.  Working at a DND establishment, I don't get the same sort of internet access I get at home.  I'm limited in a lot of ways, so I was worried that it was a problem on my end.

Thanks very much for the updates, Laura!  I'm looking forward to voting :smileyhappy:

Re: The 2010 Community Forum Shout-Out Awards!!

Awwww.... hopefully another person was nominated to the hot new tech post! :smileysad: :smileyhappy:

-----------------------------------------------
Cell carrier recommendations:

Scale of 1 to 10. 1 for extremely basic user such as only for occasional emergency calls. 10 for extremely heavy user. aka ppl that can't stop talking yap yap yap.

Windmobile: 2, and 9+ users.
PetroCanada: 1 users (prepaid)
Telus: 2 (prepaid), 5-8 users, substitute for Windmobile 9+ where applicable
Fido: Stay away from prepaid, 3-4 users
Rogers: Not recommended haha.
Bell: Stay away from prepaid, potential substitute for Telus post-paid
Koodo: Possible substitute for Fido, Fido preferred
Solo: meh
Virgin Mobile: I don't know enough about them. N/A
---
Recently switched to Bell: Internet, phone, TV.
Horrible coordination of installation... ended up paying for an extra month of Rogers services for nothing, $80, cuz timing wasn't right... approx 20 calls to fix internet, 10 calls to fix bill... 6 technicians.... telephone reps insist on testing the phone sync 20+ times... 4 modems replacements (almost bi-weekly)... horrible bandwidth limit.... insisted that I disconnect my router and 4 telephones because of interference.... my internet still loses connection sometimes... and my phone is still fuzzy?

Actually, two more people were nominated for that category before the nomination period ended:

Me and Krypto.

Meaning there's going to be a vote for this one and you actually have a  good chance of winning this one for this year if you ask me:smileyhappy:.

Until next time,

Re: The 2010 Community Forum Shout-Out Awards!!

Hi guys,

Just want to let you know that they're still working on the tool. I'm REALLY sorry about the delay - once it's working I'll be posting here, not to worry!  We'll also probably start the following morning just to make sure eveyone has a chance to read the message and knows that they have to come back and vote.

So sit tight, keep your eyes on the thread and we'll get this thing started... soon :smileywink:
